Position Description: Applications are invited for a one-year internship position that begins May 2007 in the Family Studies Division of the Behavioral Research Center at the American Cancer Society. Family Studies projects examine the impact of cancer on the quality of life of family members and close friends of cancer patients/survivors.
The Intern will perform data management, communicate with the Principle Investigator and project coordinators, and other miscellaneous, but essential, project tasks, and will be encouraged to develop abstracts for conferences and be involved in manuscript preparation.
Qualifications: The ability to work independently as well as with others in a research environment is a must. The candidate must be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated. Experience with data analysis is preferred and excellent writing skills are required. The candidate should hold a bachelor or master degree or currently be in master or doctoral program in psychology, public health, or other related field.
In considering this position, please note the following:
1) you must either be a current student, have no more than 6 months ago, or be between programs (ie. just graduated with a Bachelor’s and entering a Master’s program in the Fall)
2) pay for this position is $10 - $15 / hour (depending on experience);
3) this position is part-time (20 hours / week) and does not offer benefits; and
4) this position is based in Atlanta, GA and the candidate must have reliable transportation as the American Cancer Society is relocating to downtown Atlanta (250 Williams Street) mid-May 2007.
