Description
The Cancer Control Program of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking investigators to expand research in cancer and aging. Post-doctoral candidates and junior and mid-level faculty considered. Tenure track positions available.
The current cancer and aging program includes NIH-funded research on patterns of cancer care, development of measures of physiological age and tolerance of chemotherapy, impact of chemotherapy on cognition, health behaviors of older individuals, older patient-physician communication, perceptions of ageism and racism in care, decision aides for older cancer patients, cost-effectiveness, preferences and survivorship.
The individual filling this position will have research interests in gerontology and a commitment to a career in cancer. Candidates are sought with training and expertise in cancer control disciplines (e.g., gerontology, neurobiology, behavioral science, health services research, epidemiology, health policy). Minimum requirements include a doctoral degree with a track record of research publications and extramural funding potential.
The successful candidate will join a highly interdisciplinary department of oncology and a cancer control program with active research in cancer prevention, screening, genetic testing, cultural determinants of health, survivorship, lifespan development/aging, and community outreach. Strong mentorship available for post-doctoral and junior candidates. Excellent opportunities for career advancement. Very competitive recruitment packages available for more established candidates with track record of extra-mural funding. Salary and recruitment package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Clinicians encouraged to apply. Start dates of January or July 2008.
