Description
The University of Connecticut Health Center is seeking to fill a Clinical Research Associate position in the Department of Community Medicine and Health Care. This full-time position will involve coordination of a five-year (2007-2012), collaborative, Indo-US, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded research, intervention and evaluation grant that focuses on the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases among married women in urban poor communities in Mumbai, India. This grant builds on a six-year project (2001-2007) funded by NIMH focused on HIV/STI prevention among married men and a pilot project funded by the Office of AIDS Research (OAR) of NIH, assessing women’s risk of HIV/STI acquisition within marriage in the same communities.



Requirements
Applicants for this position must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in the social sciences (anthropology, sociology or psychology), public health or epidemiology, plus a minimum of two (2) years of appropriate research experience in community-based research and intervention in developing countries; qualitative and quantitative methodology training and experience; knowledge of women's health issues in international settings; ability to travel frequently to India; and fluency in Hindi.
