NIH/NIEHS: Research Triangle Park, NC: Postdoc: Environmental Epidemiology, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences
Postdoc: Environmental Epidemiology
Employer: National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
Location: Research Triangle Park, NC, United States
Description:
Applications are invited for fellowships under the direction of investigators in the NIEHS Epidemiology Branch, in Research Triangle Park, NC.
NIEHS and the Epidemiology Branch have received national recognition of our trainee programs. In 2004, 2005, and 2006, The Scientist listed NIEHS among the Top places for postdoctoral training. The EB was singled out by Science as having one of the nation's top mentors, in a survey of factors critical to postdoctoral trainee success. EB investigators are leaders in the scientific community, with past Presidents of the American College of Epidemiology, American Epidemiological Society, Society for Epidemiologic Research, and Society for Pediatric Epidemiologic Research; as well as Editors of the American Journal of Epidemiology , Epidemiology , and Pediatric Epidemiology . This stimulating environment presents excellent opportunities for young scientists developing their research careers.
Fellowship training is under the supervision of NIEHS senior scientists. Fellows choose 2 advisors—a primary research advisor and a career mentor—from among senior Branch or Division scientists. Fellows gain experience with interdisciplinary and/or multicenter collaborations, and by participating in career development activities. Previous trainees have gone on to positions with schools of public health and medicine, NIH, CDC, NIOSH, and industry.

Please note: There is a limit on the number of postdoctoral fellowship applications one may submit through the NIH site. Individuals may submit up to ten (10) applications per 12-month period. Each application one submits counts toward his/her total; there is no way to "retract" an application once it is submitted. For these reasons, the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE) urges each would-be applicant to be discriminating when choosing to apply for a fellowship.
