The Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences (BARDS) Department has internships in Biometrics Research (preclinical biostatistics), Nonclinical Statistics, Clinical Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, Health Economics, and Epidemiology for full-time students pursuing a MS or PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, or Epidemiology. In these internships, you will work closely with an experienced pharmaceutical industry statistician to perform statistical analysis of data from and/or statistical research related to basic drug research, clinical pharmacology, drug and vaccine development, pharmacogenomics, health economics, or epidemiology.
A letter of reference from a professor is highlyrecommended; you may attach it in the same section of the profile as your resume or your professor may e-mail it tostat_intern@merck.com. If the recommendation is sent via email, the subject title of the email MUST be the applicant's name and the phrase "Reference Letter" (i.e., "John Doe - Reference Letter"). Resumes will not be accepted via e-mail.
Qualifications
To be considered, students must have:
- Completed at least 2 semesters of graduate work towards an MS or PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, or Epidemiology by May 30, 2008 - Returning to school in Fall, 2008
- Have effective oral and written communication skills
- Have a good working knowledge of SAS, S-Plus, and/or R
