Description
Applications are sought for a fellowship in health policy and philanthropy jointly sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Center for State Health Policy at Rutgers University. At the Center, fellows participate in policy research projects aimed at informing, supporting and stimulating effective health policy in New Jersey and around the nation. At the Foundation, they assist in synthesizing findings from research and evaluation projects for dissemination to policy audiences and the general public. These experiences offer fellows distinctive opportunities to enhance their policy analysis and research skills, refine their ability to translate research results into accessible policy briefs and get a firsthand view of the functioning of a major foundation and its efforts to maximize the impact of its grant-making.

Fellows work with study investigators providing data collection and analytic support at the University and with the Foundation's teams disseminating findings relevant to childhood obesity, human capital, health insurance coverage, public health, quality and inequality, vulnerable populations and pioneer projects. The fellowship is a one-year, grant-funded position with the possibility of a one-year renewal. Fellows are entitled to comprehensive health and retirement benefits offered by Rutgers University.

The fellowship requires strong writing skills and ability to synthesize research findings; a master's degree in a social science discipline, policy analysis/administration or public health with at least two years experience in social research projects; or a related bachelor's degree with five years of experience. Successful candidates must have excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills. Knowledge of software for statistical or qualitative analysis is preferred.

To apply, submit a resume/curriculum vitae and a statement of interest by following the link: uhr.rutgers.edu/jobpostings/aps/Detail.asp?id=08-000156. Later in the process, candidates may be asked to complete a writing assignment. The position is available immediately and applications will be considered until it is filled.
The Center for State Health Policy, located within the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research at Rutgers University, serves the health policy needs of New Jersey as well as other states. More than 20 faculty and research staff from diverse disciplines work on a wide range of research and technical assistance projects related to health and long-term care policy. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is the nation's largest philanthropy devoted exclusively to improving the health and health care of all Americans. It works with a diverse group of organizations and individuals to identify solutions and achieve comprehensive, meaningful, and timely change.

Rutgers is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
