DESCRIPTION:
Weill Cornell Medical College and the Center for the Study of Hepatitis C are seeking two one-year fellows or one two-year fellow for a mentored clinical and translational research fellowship. The focus of the fellowship will be on hepatitis C in substance-using populations, including its epidemiology, virology, immunology, and treatment. The objective of the fellowship is to provide a junior physician-scientist with a strong foundation in the principles and skills necessary for a successful career as an independent clinical investigator. The fellow will receive training, experience, supervision, and mentoring in clinical and translational research study conceptualization, design, implementation and management, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript development and submission, research ethics, and grant writing. Mentorship, formal coursework, and seminars and scientific meetings will focus on the following areas: epidemiology, clinical trials, the immunology, virology, and treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis C, substance abuse, harm reduction, and multidisciplinary care for disadvantaged populations. Masters degree available.
Qualifications
(1) MD or equivalent degree
(2) Completion of post-graduate training in internal medicine or the equivalent (by start date)
(3) Demonstrated interest in clinical research (e.g., previous research activities and/or training)
(4) Interest in providing care to disadvantaged populations, esp. the urban poor or patients with substance use disorders.
