Responsibilities
The Program in Epidemiology of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center conducts a wide range of studies to identify physical, chemical, and infectious agents; behavioral and host characteristics; and heritable factors that influence a person’s chances of developing cancer and to assess the impact of these factors on the cancer burden in human populations. Additional studies are designed to identify factors that influence cancer patients’ survival and their quality of life. The investigators and project within the Program also provide rich training opportunities for graduate students enrolled in the Epidemiology Department of the University of Washington’s School of Public Health and Community Medicine. Themes to research conducted within the Program in Epidemiology are the use of population-based study designs and the involvement of multi-disciplinary research teams.

The Program invites applications for two postdoctoral fellowship positions to work with faculty at the FHCRC and University of Washington in the design, conduct, and analysis of cancer epidemiology studies. Fellowships can be renewed annually for up to three years’ duration.

Qualifications
The candidate must hold an M.D. or doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, genetics, or a related field and be a US citizen or resident alien. Strong communication and analytic skills, including knowledge of SAS and/or STATA are necessary. This is NOT a bench research position.
