Research Fellow

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA

The Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota, seeks a 100%-time Research Fellow for existing studies and new initiatives in pediatric obesity, reproductive epidemiology, and cardiovascular disease epidemiology. This is an annually renewable, academic professional position.

Specific requirements for the position are: 1) Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, or related field; 2) at least 1 year of professional experience in statistical data analysis and data management; 3) understanding of epidemiologic research designs; 4) experience in use of statistical software packages, including in-depth experience using SAS; and 5) experience in biomedical or epidemiologic research in human subjects. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Statistics or Biostatistics, and those with experience in one or more of the following: pediatrics, reproductive/gynecologic epidemiology, longitudinal data analysis, cardiovascular disease epidemiology, and genetic epidemiology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

The position involves active collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including faculty, graduate students, and research staff. Primary responsibilities for the position include: 1) statistical analysis of data files using SAS, especially using longitudinal data analytic techniques, including statistical consulting and analytic support for multiple project faculty and staff; 2) construction, maintenance, and documentation of databases/ data entry forms in Access; 3) contribution to writing scientific publications and grant proposals.
