Clinical Research Fellow (ACST 2)

CTSU is one of the world’s leading centres for research into the causes, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease.The Unit is now conducting ACST 2, a new simple randomized trial that seeks to compare stroke risk from surgery with that from stenting.
We are looking for a clinician with a good grounding in clinical medicine to join the research team of clinicians,administrators,programmers and epidemiologists running our large stroke prevention trials. MRCP or an equivalent qualification, and good IT skills are essential.Experience in clinical trials and cardiovascular disease,particularly intervention in carotid artery disease,would be advantageous.
The primary responsibilities will be to assist with the development and operation of the new trial procedures,managing clinical communication with centres,as wellVas assisting with the adjudication of study outcomes.Opportunities exist for study towards a higher research degree.
This is a two year training and development position for those who are clinically qualified and are aiming to develop their research skills. It provides opportunities to develop research project skills and develop collaborative links with colleagues within the University of Oxford and elsewhere.
