Job Description

BROWN UNIVERSITY & THE MIRIAM HOSPITAL. TRANSDISCIPLINARY CANCER CONTROL RESEARCH CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, R25T. The goal of Brown's R25T Cancer Research Training Program, housed within the Centers for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine is to train the next generation of physicians, psychologists, and public health behavioral and social scientists to become highly successful, independently funded researchers. The program combines the strengths of three major research programs at Brown University/Lifespan Academic Medical Center: Cancer Biology/Medical Oncology. 2. Behavioral/Preventive Medicine. 3. Public Health/Population Sciences. The program provides full salary support for up to three years with protected time and resources to develop independent research. Training is at the postdoctoral level-either as an initial postdoc or following an initial postdoc. Training in multiple disciplines is provided through a program of research experiences, co-mentoring, and didactics. Requirements: Research experience and solid background within a primary discipline (e.g., cancer biology, lifestyle risk factors, behavioral medicine, chemo-prevention, clinical trials epidemiology, health services). Recent doctoral level completion: M.D., Ph.D., Dr. P.H., Sc.D. or D.O. Desire to become an NIH-funded investigator. The major focus of the program is on cancer prevention and control using behavioral and population-based science. Studies at Brown aimed at reducing the cancer burden include basic mechanisms, translational clinical trials, and behavioral and population-based research. Efforts involve oncologists, epidemiologists, social and behavioral scientists, outcomes researchers, methodologists, policy researchers and biostatisticians.
