Michigan: Post-doctoral Research Associate in Perinatal/Genetic Epidemiology, Michigan State University

Research Associate in Perinatal/Genetic Epidemiology

Organization: Department of Epidemiology
Type: Full-time
Classification: Epidemiology
Industry: Academic/Research
Location: Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI
Compensation: commensurate with experience

Position Description: The Pregnancy Outcomes and Community Health (POUCH) Study team seeks a qualified, motivated researcher to analyze maternal-fetal gene interactions and/or gene-environment interactions that may contribute to adverse pregnancy outcomes. The successful candidate will work with members of the POUCH Study team to define specific research questions, identify and conduct relevant analyses, and prepare manuscripts for publication. With a rich and established data set from which to draw, this is an excellent opportunity for a new researcher who wishes to explore the area of perinatal epidemiology while building his/her publication credentials. The position is funded for a minimum of one year, with additional appointment dependent on performance and continued funding.

Qualifications: PhD in Epidemiology or Biostatistics. A demonstrated interest in perinatal and/or genetic epidemiology is preferred, but not required.

Organization Description: Michigan State University (MSU), located just east of Michigan’s capital city, is ranked as one of the top 100 universities in the world. It is the only university in the U.S. with three on-campus medical schools (allopathic, osteopathic, and veterinary) and maintains an active research environment that attracted over $377 million in external research funding during 2006-07. The Department of Epidemiology and its Division of Biostatistics teaches both medical and graduate students, and provides consultation on epidemiologic and biostatical study design and analysis to MSU faculty, community health professionals, and public health agencies. Interdisciplinary research is the norm, with collaborative efforts extending across the University and around the State, the nation, and the world.
