DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate will be responsible for management of day-to-day activities of an international, longitudinal research project involving 620 participants. This includes: communication with research teams in Chile, overseeing the organization and maintenance of all data files, data cleaning, providing direction to graduate student interns; writing and submission of manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations, and preparation of Human Subjects protection applications. As part of research duties incumbent will assess both distal (social determinants and infancy factors) and more proximal mechanisms (adolescent sleep, eating and activity patterns) linked to the development of adiposity-related metabolic disturbance including hypertension, insulin resistance, and markers of inflammation. Responsibilities also include analysis of complex quantitative and qualitative data including Anthropometry, DXA, biomarkers of metabolic disturbance, and eating assessment data. The Research Associate will participate in data analysis (growth modeling, multiple regression, linear mixed regression, logistic regression, descriptive analyses, bivariate and multivariate analyses).

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Demonstrated proficiency in oral/written Spanish and English.
* Experience overseeing research projects. Experience authoring journal articles, abstracts, and posters.
* Theoretical knowledge of Epidemiology that would be typically be gained through an MPH program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Demonstrated knowledge of SAS, SPSS and Epi-Info, ANTHRO programming and a basic understanding of longitudinal and repeated measure data analysis.
* Experience in analysis and management of complex data including data cleaning, descriptive analyses, bivariate and multivariate analyses.
* Experience in qualitative research methods including coding video.
* Knowledge of Human Research protection protocols and procedures, ability to implement such protocols into a research design.
* Ability to interface appropriately (with diplomacy and in confidentiality) with study participants, staff and investigators. Ability to delegate work and direct the work activities of students and interns.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Valid California Driver's license.
