CTSU is one of the world’s leading centres for research into the causes, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Amongst other projects the Unit is currently conducting ACST 2, a new simple randomised trial that will compare stroke risk from surgery with that from stenting, HPS2-THRIVE, an international trial assessing the value of HDL raising in high risk vascular patient, and ASCEND, a mail based randomised trial in
people with diabetes.
We are looking for two clinicians with a good grounding in clinical medicine to join the research team of clinicians, administrators, programmers and epidemiologists running our large cardiovascular prevention trials. MRCP or an equivalent qualification and good IT skills are essential. Experience in clinical trials and cardiovascular disease would be desirable.The primary
responsibilities will be to assist with the development and operation of clinical trial procedures, helping find and set up new centres, managing communication with existing centres, as well as assisting with day-to-day running of the trial by liaising with the trial teams and adjudication of study outcomes. Opportunities exist for study towards a higher research degree.
These are two year training and development positions for those who are clinically qualified and are aiming to develop their research skills.They provide opportunities to develop research project skills and develop collaborative links with colleagues within the University of Oxford and elsewhere.
