Director of CVD and Stroke Epidemiology
DIRECTOR, CARDIOVASCULAR AND STROKE EPIDEMIOLOGY AND RESEARCH SUPPORT SERVICES
The American Heart Association is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director, Cardiovascular and Stroke Epidemiology and Research Support Services to be located at our Corporate Office in Dallas, TX. This position reports to the Vice President of the Office of Science and Medicine.
This position acts as the central source of cardiovascular and stroke epidemiological information and consultation for the AHA and its affiliates. The Director provides guidance and consultation for AHA databases and data that will aid in assessment of progress toward AHA strategic goals and the effectiveness of AHA programs. The Director needs to maintain close cooperation among key national health agencies e.g. National Center for Health Statistics, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health, Census Bureau, Centers for Disease Control etc. This position provides epidemiological and biostatistical review for all documents produced at the National Center. The director also acts as a epidemiological consultant on major AHA volunteer task forces and serves as the AHA Science staff for the Epidemiology and Prevention Council and other science groups.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in epidemiology or related field, a minimum of 3 years postdoctoral experience, specialized training in use of epidemiological and statistical information as it relates to cardiovascular disease and stroke, knowledge of the major issues and concerns in biomedical science related to cardiovascular and stroke health and disease and ability to manage and work with AHA staff and volunteers.
