Position: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
Department: Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, School of Public Health and Information Sciences University of Louisville

Description: The Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, School of Public Health and Information Sciences, and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville are seeking applicants for a position in Cancer Epidemiology at the Assistant Professor level. This entry-level position requires a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) with training in epidemiology and post-doctoral experience, or other evidence of expertise, in one or more of the following specialties: molecular, genetic, environmental, social or behavioral epidemiology of cancer. Applicants for this position will receive up to 50% “hard money” support from the BCC and will be members of the growing Cancer Prevention and Control Program.
The Department of Epidemiology and Population Health is one of five departments in the School of Public Health and Information Sciences that also includes Bioinformatics/Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Knowledge and Cognitive Science, and Health Management and Systems Science. The department is rapidly developing MS and Ph.D. academic programs in Epidemiology, and supports school-wide MPH and MSc:Clinical Investigation Science programs. Applicants will be expected to contribute to these teaching programs. There are established research programs in breast cancer, aging, obesity, occupational-radiation exposures, leukemia, and cardiovascular disease.
The James Graham Brown Cancer Center (BCC) is the recipient of a P20 planning grant, and is about to submit a P30 application for designation as an NIH Comprehensive Cancer Center. The BCC has outstanding research programs in experimental therapeutics, molecular targets, growth factors, stem cell biology, structural biology, in addition to cancer prevention and control, with more than $40 million in research funding with 125 members.
