TITLE:
Assistant/Associate Professor, Maternal and Child Health, Department of Family Studies, College of Health and Human Performance, University of Maryland, College Park. This is a 9-month tenure track position.
DESCRIPTION:
The University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP) is in the process of developing the Maryland School of Public Health. The School will include existing departments of Family Studies, Public and Community Health, and Kinesiology, as well as the interdisciplinary Center on Aging. The Family Studies Department has an undergraduate and Ph.D. program in Family Studies, and a Master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy. The Department is currently developing a new Ph.D. degree in Maternal and Child Health as it prepares to join the University’s Maryland School of Public Health. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach courses in maternal and child health; establish a strong program of externally-funded research; advise and mentor students; and fulfill committee assignments as required by the Department and the University.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in epidemiology, maternal and child health, or family/ population health; a strong record of scholarly publications; evidence of, or potential to establish, a strong externally-funded program of research; successful college teaching and mentoring experience; and research addressing the health of families, including children, women, and men. Applications from minority and women candidates are strongly encouraged.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
POSITION AVAILABLE: August 2007; Starting date negotiable.
