ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/DIRECTOR INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND POLICY

The College of Health and Public Policy at Delaware State University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Professor/Director of the Institute of Public Health and Policy. This is a 12 month faculty position. The qualified candidate will coordinate the recruitment and selection of faculty and staff for the Institute of Public Health; prepare/submit budget requests and administer the budget within University established policies and procedures; develop programs of study, course offerings, curriculum and other academic policies in conjunction with the appropriate department committee; evaluate members of the department and make recommendations concerning appointments, reappointments, promotions, tenure, sabbatical, and leave; encourage and monitor professional development plan of the department faculty members; arrange course schedules and offerings in consultation with the faculty and according to policies and procedures; develop and implement a system of advisement for majors; exercise academic leadership in teaching, research, and other department activities; encourage and monitor faculty proposals for contracts and grants to governmental agencies and private foundations; coordinate recruitment and retention of students; administer graduate programs within the department; administer university policies and procedures and keep faculty members informed of department and institutional plans, activities and expectations; prepare and submit annual department reports and other reports as required; keep regular office hours to carry out administrative responsibilities over a five day period; preside at regularly scheduled department meetings or committee meetings; maintain department records including student records; administer department facilities and equipment, including maintenance and control of inventory; other duties as may be assigned. Interested applicants must have a MPH or related discipline and an earned doctorate in Public Health or a related field. Successful experience will include demonstrated commitment to scholarly research and publication, experience in grant writing, securing funds, and designing and implementing new programs. Other preferences include teaching and research experience in one of the following areas: 1) Epidemiology or Biostatistics; or 2) Environmental Health.
