Maryland: Research Assistant for Division of Tuberculosis Control

Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene

Division of TB Control

Administrative Specialist/Research Assistant

Entry Level Public Health:

Learn the nuts and bolts of research management from protocol development and IRB review through data collection and analysis.  Gain experience writing proposals.  Peer review publications are also possible.

We are looking for a recent graduate/post-master's candidate to fill a full-time position managing public health research studies conducted as part of a nation-wide consortium, the Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium (TBESC).

The TBESC was established by the CDC in 2001 as a multi-site, multi-state endeavor in order to build the scientific research capacities of state and metropolitan TB control programs.  The studies conducted through the consortium involve the identification, diagnosis, prevention, and control of active TB disease and latent TB infection.

In addition to providing management support to the Principle Investigators (PI) of the Maryland TBESC site, the position will maintain the Maryland state Mycobacterium tuberculosis genotyping database, and where possible, conduct epidemiological follow-up and data analysis for genetically related clusters of M. tuberculosis to determine risk groups, settings, and circumstances for recent M. tuberculosis transmission.

If interested, please contact the TBESC site PI:
