Duke Center for Human Genetics
Genetic Data Analyst
The Duke Center for Human Genetics (CHG) has immediate openings for Genetic Data Analysts. This is a position in one of the largest human genetic research laboratories in the country. CHG investigators study the genetic epidemiology of complex human diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, birth defects, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and psychiatric disorders. This position will work independently and carry out research projects under the direction of a senior genetic epidemiologist, performing analyses of familial and clinical data. The successful applicant must be familiar with commercial statistical software packages (e.g. SAS), and must be willing to learn new analytical techniques and use a variety of non-commercial software. Genetic analysis methods include pedigree linkage analysis, association analysis and analysis of gene expression data. The successful applicant will be involved in developing practical procedures necessary for the collection and management of the data and in preparing summary reports and scientific publications. Flexibility in using a variety of computer platforms is necessary. A Master’s degree (or more advanced degree) in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics or a related field is required. Previous experience in statistical-genetic analyses is an advantage, but not a requirement.
