Basic Qualifications /Skills:
  • PhD/MSc in Statistics/Statistical genetics/Genetic epidemiology or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competency of successful research in Human Statistical Genetics
  • Proven ability in analysis of genetic and/or clinical trials data, results interpretation and reporting
  • Demonstrated competency in developing high-quality software code
  • Proven knowledge of at least one statistical package such as SAS, S-plus or R and working knowledge of UNIX
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written/oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong and in depth knowledge of statistics, statistical genetics or genetic epidemiology and expertise in pharmacogenetics, statistics, statistical genetic analysis and statistical methods development
  • Demonstrable ability applying expert statistical genetics knowledge to lead and provide consultative support for design, analysis and interpretation of pharmacogenetic and other genetic studies
  • Demonstrated successful presentation skills, both written and verbal, and ability to communicate, influence and lead in a large complex matrix organization
  • Demonstrable ability to self direct, prioritize, complete tasks on time, coordinate activities with other staff, and work successfully and positively as part of a team

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Work with project teams delivering analytical support for study design, analysis and interpretation of pharmacogenetic and other genetic projects
  • Maintain strong research focus and provide lead statistical genetics expertise for planning/designing studies, for data analysis and for interpretation of results
  • Develop and apply genetic analysis methods to clinical trials or disease data, for identification of genes influencing drug response or safety
  • Prepare analysis plans and conduct statistical analysis including genome scans and reporting of results
  • Communicate analysis results within the division and to cross-functional project teams
  • Collaborate with clinical scientists, regulatory, and commercial staff on diverse projects.
    Act as a mentor for junior staff
