Washington Univ: Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Bioinformatics Faculty
Washington University School of Medicine
faculty positions in statistical genetics / genetic epidemiology / bioinformatics
The Division of Statistical Genomics within the Center for Genome Sciences, and the Center for Preterm Birth Research at Washington University School of Medicine invite applications for several faculty positions in statistical genetics / genetic epidemiology / bioinformatics. Individuals with research interests in the development and application of new analytic methods are strongly encouraged to apply. For one important position, in addition to independent scholarly endeavors, the successful applicant will be a key member of the multidisciplinary Center for Preterm Birth Research and will be involved in the design and analysis of family studies to discover genes that increase the risk for preterm birth using genetic and genomic science approaches. Other positions will similarly interact with clinical and translational scientists from other disciplines, such as oncology, cardiology, pharmacology, and microbiology. For all positions, academic rank and start-up packages will be determined based upon prior achievements. A strong background in quantitative sciences is essential, with specific expertise spanning genetic epidemiological, bioinformatic/comparative genomic, or statistical approaches will be advantageous. The successful applicant(s) will be part of the Center for Genome Sciences which is assembling investigators from complementary disciplines to interact and develop novel approaches to understanding fundamental problems in genetics and personalized medicine. These activities are complemented by interactions with the Genome Sequencing Center, a substantial community of statistical geneticists, and ongoing continuing education and graduate programs. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply. Washington University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. To apply, please send your CV, a statement of research interests, and three references to: Dr. Michael Province, Division of Statistical Genomics, 4444 Forest Park Blvd. - Box 8506, St. Louis, MO 63108 mprovince@wustl.edu
