Position Description: Provides leadership and program management for the Health Survey Unit, including BRFSS and other surveys. Supervises epidemiology and survey data collection professional staff. Coordinator the work of the Health Survey Unit with CDC, other state agencies, and the BRFSS Advisory Committee and other constituents. Oversees the development of questionnaires and procedures for surveys. Ensures timely, high quality data products, and reports.

Qualifications: Four years in public health, to include three years of supervisory experience. Experience with complex survey data and methods preferred. A Master's degree in one of the following fields of study is required for this position: Epidemiology, Social Science, Health Promotion/Education or other related field with quantitave training.

Organization Description: The mission of the New Mexico Department of Health is to promote health and sound health policy, prevent disease and disability, improve health services systems and assure that essential public health functions and safety net services are available to New Mexicans. The Survey Unit is located within the Epidemiology & Response Division. The unit conducts a variety of health surveys via scientific telephone survey methods. The unit staff includes 2 Survey Epidemiologists, 1 Data Collection Supervisor, 2 Assistant Data Collection Supervisors, 2 Shift Supervisors, and 12 interviewers. The unit's annual budget varies between $500,000 to $750,000.
