Position Description: The individual would be responsible for managing and overseeing the national and international communication activities for the Alliance for Rabies Control’s World Rabies Day event (September 8, 2007). Activities may include: • Coordinate and implement the World Rabies Day communication campaign. • Engage and correspond with external partners. • Develop campaign materials and coordinate material distribution globally. • Act as a liaison between the Alliance for Rabies Control and campaign partners at various public health agencies. • Ensure that external partners, organizations, and the media receive timely and factual information. • Coordinate translation of campaign materials and distribution through various outlets. • Assist in the management of content for the World Rabies Day Web site.
Qualifications: • At least a Masters level training in either health education, health communication, health promotion, or a similar field. • Communication campaign experience. • Must have experience with PowerPoint and Microsoft Office programs. • Certified Health Education Specialists Certification a plus.
Organization Description: The Alliance for Rabies Control is a UK registered nonprofit formed by rabies scientists in early 2006. CDC is partnering with them on the inaugural World Rabies Day declaration and events.
