DIRECTOR, HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH
The American Cancer Society’s National Home Office in Atlanta is seeking a Director of Health Services Research. The Health Services Research department evaluates cancer-related screening, diagnostic, and treatment services provided in general community practice, and to asses of patient-reported outcomes and clinical endpoints. The incumbent will be responsible for the design and implementation of research projects designed to evaluate the quality of cancer patient care and participate in translation of research findings to improve cancer care through public and professional education, public-private partnerships, and legislative initiatives. Analyzes existing databases; such as SEER-Medicare and NCDB. Develops new research opportunities through data linkages with administrative databases. Initiates research projects requiring data collection from patients, physicians, and medical facilities. Provides input to ACS initiatives to improve the quality of cancer care on a national level.
Requirements include Ph.D. or equivalent degree in epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, or health economics; or M.D. with relevant training/experience. Strong statistical background and knowledge of cancer screening and treatment preferred. Experience in analyzing administrative health records, data management experience, familiarity with SAS, STATA and other analytical software, track record in health services research, good written and communication skills.
