Description
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking candidates to Chair the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health. We welcome applications from individuals who want to share in creating a department with an innovative vision of public health and a commitment to excellence in research and scholarship. This is a 12-month tenure track faculty position for a candidate with academic credentials consistent with appointment as professor. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree relevant to epidemiology and should have a demonstrated record of excellence in conducting sponsored research, teaching at the graduate level, and administering academic programs. There is a particular interest in individuals whose scholarship focuses on cancer, although other areas of epidemiological research will be given favorable consideration.

Requirements
The successful candidate will provide senior leadership and vision in the area of epidemiology and community health for the Medical College of Virginia Campus and the emerging School of Public Health. The candidate must have a significant established research program, experience successfully mentoring junior faculty, and the ability to collaborate with other faculty researchers throughout the university. The Chair will oversee graduate programs, obtain extramural research funding, and recruit faculty for a growing and dynamic department. The Department offers accredited MPH and PhD programs in Epidemiology. The faculty, students, and staff collaborate with clinical investigators on the Medical College of Virginia Campus (which includes the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health), in a wide variety of research projects. Located in Richmond, the state capital of Virginia, VCU has established relationships with the Virginia Department of Health as well as local and regional health departments.
