Description
The Graduate School of Public Health (GSPH) is situated in a university with an enrollment of 35,000 students, including 6,000 graduate students. The GSPH is accredited by CEPH and has 400 masters and doctoral students and 200 undergraduate public health majors. The GSPH provides MPH degrees in all five core disciplines, MS degrees in Global Emergency Preparedness and Response, and Toxicology, and three PhD degrees in Epidemiology, Health Behavior, and Global Health. The GSPH is the leading school on campus in acquiring external research funding. San Diego State University is a Carnegie Foundation Doctoral/Research Intensive University and was recently named the number one “small research university” in the country.

Requirements
Candidates for this open rank, tenure-track position should possess an earned doctoral or medical degree; have a strong record of academic research; have a demonstrated capacity to secure external funding; have a track-record of peer-reviewed publications and interdisciplinary collaboration; and have research and teaching experience related to global health. Areas of concentration may include but are not limited to: global health policy and planning, health economics, environmental health, population studies, reproductive health, global maternal and child health, social epidemiology, behavioral science, human rights, and health care delivery. The individual hired will lead the new joint PhD program in Public Health, concentration Global Health, between the San Diego State University Graduate School of Public Health and the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.
