The University of Iowa College of Public Health
The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health at The University of Iowa College of Public Health is committed to maintaining its strong leadership role in rural health and safety research and is currently seeking candidates for a new Endowed Chair in Rural Safety and Health.

Candidates for this Chair should have a PhD, MD, DVM, or equivalent, an outstanding research record (including scholarly publications and external funding), and national recognition in some aspect of rural health and safety. While all areas of expertise will be considered, special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in the health effects of rural water pollution, rural health epidemiology, rural environmental policy or agricultural health and safety.

The individual selected will hold a senior tenured faculty appointment in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health, and will be responsible for graduate-level teaching and research. A collaborative environment conducive to inter-disciplinary research and substantial resources will be provided to this person. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.

The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health is located within The University of Iowa College of Public Health. The College of Public Health is comprised of 82 primary faculty, 230 professional staff, and 25 support staff. The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health currently includes 19 primary faculty and offers both MS and PhD degree programs as well as MPH degrees. OEH faculty members collaborate extensively with colleagues from other colleges, such as Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health is the home to several federally-funded research and training centers including the NIEHS-funded Environmental Health Sciences Research Center, the CDC-funded Injury Prevention Research Center, the NIEHS-funded Iowa Superfund Basic Research Program, the NIOSH-funded Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health, the NIOSH-funded Heartland Center for Occupational Health and Safety, the CDC-funded Healthier Workforce Center for Excellence, and the State-funded Iowa Center for Agricultural Safety and Health.
