Job Description:
Serve as principal or co-investigator on research grants and contracts that require expertise in high throughput genetic studies, and genome wide association studies and on projects that require the development of new or adaptation of existing methodologies for the analysis of such studies.
Job Responsibilities:
• Training in statistical genetics or biostatistics with knowledge of genetics.
• Oversee, support and conduct the design and analysis of high throughput genetic studies, including genome wide association studies.
• Develop and expand methodologies for the analysis of such studies.
• Provides support for all aspects of high throughput genetic studies or statistical genetics projects, including study design, protocol development, study implementation, preliminary and final data analysis, and presentation of study results.
• Maintains effective liaison with funding officials, client technical and program staff, and collaborators from universities and other organizations.
Qualifications:
• PhD in biostatistics or statistical genetics
• Five to seven years experience working with epidemiological and/or clinical trial research.
• Experience in applying statistical methods to genetic or other studies of high throughput laboratory analysis with large amounts of data.
• A record of scientific stature in presentation and publication of study results in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to of high throughput genetics studies, genome wide associations or other high throughput laboratory data.
• Experience working with clients that fund research in public health, including federal agencies, private foundations, and/or the commercial sector.
Desired Qualifications:
• Excellent skills in communication, negotiation, compromise, and building consensus within and between groups.
