The Department of Community Health Systems (CHS) and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) in the School of Nursing announce searches for two tenure track faculty positions (one for each department) to be filled by September 2008. Appointments will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, depending upon the finalist's level of experience. Commensurate with the community health focus of the Departments, a background in nursing, public health, epidemiology, international health research and/or health services research is preferred. We are seeking candidates with promising and/or demonstrated research career that will be synergistic with departmental teaching, research directions and future plans, and who are academically prepared to teach in SBS (Health Policy Programs) or in one or more of the graduate nursing specialties in CHS (Advanced Community Health & International Nursing, Occupational & Environmental Health Nursing, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, Adult Nurse Practitioner Program, and Nursing Administration) and to develop a program in global health policy. Candidates must be willing and able to: contribute to the leadership of one of these specific nursing specialties in the context of global health nursing; teach and advise students in the masters and doctoral programs; collaborate with faculty from across the School of Nursing to develop global health research within the School. Major Areas of Responsibility

1. Teaching and advising masters and doctoral students in nursing.
2. Developing/establishing a program of research in global health nursing that is synergistic with emphases of the specialty and department and/or other organized research units on campus.
3. Disseminating research knowledge and engaging in professional activities at local, regional, national and international levels.
4. Contributing to the leadership and direction of UCSF, the School of Nursing and either the Department of Community Health Systems or the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
