Description
Drew Cares International (DCI), an affiliate of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in the USA, has received funding by the United States Department of Defense (DOD) to provide technical assistance and program support to the Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF). The goal of this program is to provide high-quality medical and psychosocial care to people affiliated with the RDF who are living with HIV/AIDS, including soldiers, their partners and families, and communities around RDF health facilities.
DCI has been operating in Rwanda for nearly two years. Our mission is to provide health services to underserved populations, as well as conduct capacity building to the health sector. We have HIV/AIDS programs in three African countries and work with the military in Angola and Rwanda.
We are seeking qualified candidates for an immediate opening in the position of
COUNTRY DIRECTOR (RWANDA)
The Country Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of our HIV/AIDS program in Rwanda. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, • administrative and fiscal oversight • oversight of HIV/AIDS treatment and care program, ensuring that services are of high quality and that deliverables are met • tracking progress of the program and preparing progress reports • developing and maintaining work-plans and budgets • planning and developing growth areas for the programs • coordinating with partners and funders • representing the organization at all levels
The position will require some in-country travel.
Position start date: 1 Jan 2008 Position duration: Minimum of 2-year contract
NOTES: International Candidates Will Be Considered. Employer will assist with relocation costs. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Requirements
Requires: Master's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or equivalent experience; 5 years management experience; 2 years experience in developing countries; proven track record of supervising both expatriate and nationals in the implementation of health care projects in developing countries; proven track record of managing large budgets; strong organizational and communications skills; fluency in English.
Prefers: Prior experience in HIV/AIDS treatment and care programs. Prior experience working with military. Fluency in French.
