DESCRIPTION:
Faculty member sought who can manage the hospital“s Infection Control Program. The Associate Hospital Epidemiologist is responsible for working closely with the Hospital Epidemiologist in providing the necessary leadership to accomplish the following goals:
1) Promote the safety of patients, personnel, trainees and visitors;
2) Decrease the risk for healthcare associated infections
3) Minimize the risk of transmission of infections associated with the use of procedures, medical equipment and medical devices.
Requirements: MD Degree, Board Certification/eligibility in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, eligible for Virginia medical license. Additional training (fellowship and/or advanced degree) or experience in hospital epidemiology desired. Eligible for faculty appointment in the School of Medicine at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.
