Duties/ Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Research Scientist 1 (G-18) of the Immunization Registry Program, the incumbent will support the epidemiological research and quality assurance activities of the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS). In coordination with higher level staff, the incumbent will ensure that NYSIIS data is complete and accurate. The Assistant Research Scientist will be responsible for the manual duplication process of patient records and immunizations administered; will respond to requests from parents/legal guardians or authorized individuals or users without internet access for individual immunization requests; will prepare monthly reports of duplicate records by region; and will prepare ad hoc reports of user accounts, duplicate records, or other data requests from staff.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree with specialization in epidemiology or a related field and one year of experience in that field. Thirty graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.
Proficiency using personal computers, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access; and Power Point). Excellent written and oral communication skills, including telephone skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple and diverse tasks in a busy office environment.
