Research Scientist Positions at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
The Prevention Development and Evaluation Branch (PDEB) in the Division of Violence Prevention at the CDC is seeking candidates for three research positions. The Division supports intramural and extramural research and projects to prevent violence. Efforts include the prevention of youth violence, child maltreatment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and suicide.

Behavioral Scientist or Epidemiologist. Responsibilities focus on the development, implementation, and evaluation of violence prevention strategies, programs, and policies through independent and collaborative research. The scientist also provides consultation to grantees and other researchers with a focus on the primary prevention of violence. Individuals with research interests or experience in youth violence and community violence are preferred. PhD or other terminal degree in psychology, sociology, criminology, or related field required. Competitive salary and benefits. Social Scientist, Health Economist or Health Policy Researcher: Provides expert consultation on health policy research related to the prevention of child maltreatment, violence against women, youth violence, or suicide prevention. Develops grants, contracts or cooperative agreements with institutions of higher education, community-based organizations and other governmental and non-governmental health agencies. Independently designs and conducts research to examine the cost and effectiveness of policies designed to prevent violence. PhD or other terminal degree in criminology, economics, health policy, political science, sociology or related field required. Competitive salary and benefits.
