Job Description:
The Biostatistics Program of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Public Health in New Orleans is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor.
The LSU-HSC School of Public Health has a strong research program with a tradition of funding from NIH, CDC, and a variety of other state and federal state agencies and private institutions. We anticipate rapid and continued growth in the Biostatistics Program to parallel a major recruitment initiative at the health sciences center.
We are looking for candidates that are committed to graduate education to participate in the newly approved Ph.D. degree program in Biostatistics and the existing M.S. and MPH degree programs in Biostatistics. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain active research programs in methodological and applied Biostatistics.
Areas of special interest include among others, linear and generalized linear modeling, non-parametric inference, spatial biostatistics, survival modeling, and clinical trials research. Also, there is an expectation that each successful candidate will develop a research program involving collaborations throughout the health sciences center that fit well with his or her specific interest and expertise.
This position requires active participation in teaching and mentoring activities within our masters and Ph.D. programs in Biostatistics. Preference will be given to those individuals who can demonstrate success in these endeavors.
