Rockville, MD: Epidemiologist
Summary:
The International Epidemiology Institute (IEI) in Rockville, Maryland seeks a highly motivated epidemiologist to participate in the design, management, evaluation, data analysis, and publication of findings from ongoing and planned epidemiologic studies. Initial duties will include contributing to two retrospective cohort studies, both of which seek to evaluate whether employed groups may have experienced increased mortality rates from cancer or other diseases. Qualified candidates may also be eligible for appointment, at a rank commensurate with their experience, at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Qualifications:
- Masters (MPH, MSPH, ScM) required, doctorate (MD, PhD, ScD) preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in the conduct and management of epidemiologic studies, with more extensive experience expected of a candidate lacking a doctoral degree
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation and communication of observational studies
- Strong epidemiologic analytical skills using SAS and/or STATA
- Fundamental understanding of database structures with the ability to direct data management and analysis
- Experience with critique and synthesis of epidemiologic research in the literature
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Ability to work autonomously and with a team of professionals in a multi-tasking environment
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines while multi-tasking
- Strong management skills with extensive hands-on supervisory experience
- Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others in a multi-disciplinary team setting
Timeframe:
Position is available starting April 1 or thereafter.
