Description
The Medical Sciences Campus at the University of Puerto Rico seeks a mid career or senior investigator at Associate or Full Professor level for a research program relating inflammation and chronic diseases including CVD, diabetes, periodontal disease, and/or pregnancy outcomes.
The successful candidate should have a strong record of research publications and research funding. This individual should be able to develop and contribute to collaborative research to assess inflammatory and/or nutritional risk factors for chronic disease. Expertise in inflammation, nutrition (including obesity, physical activity or diet and nutrients) and/or one of the major chronic diseases would be important. Experience with cohort studies and large collaborative research projects would be highly desirable.
The University of Puerto Rico includes the schools of Medicine, Public Health, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy and Health Professions, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Center. Joint appointments would be possible depending on the individual’s interests and background. Position, salary and startup funds will be commensurate with the training and experience of the candidate.
A tenure position will be committed for a senior candidate and will be processed at the earliest effective within two years of the start date. The start date is targeted to be for Spring 2008, but is negotiable.
