Job Description


Chronic Disease Epidemiologist – The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, is recruiting for a Chronic Disease Epidemiologist to provide population-based epidemiological support to the Office of Chronic Disease Prevention. This position is funded by the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and includes some benefits. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of the principles and practices of public health, has a knowledge of interviewing and investigating techniques used in the epidemiology of human diseases, an ability to apply basic epidemiological principles and methods in the analysis of health data, as well as evaluate and interpret epidemiological and statistical data, can prepare and present reports and presentation that clearly and concisely articulate programmatic recommendations, can design and conduct an epidemiologic study, design and operate a surveillance system, understand the technical and administrative problems and constraints involved in formulating recommendations, and exercise initiative, imagination, resourcefulness and sound judgment.
