Nutrition: Assistant Professor/Obesity Prevention, University of Minnesota. Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, School of Public Health, seeks a 100% time tenure-track Assistant Professor for research and teaching in obesity prevention, in the areas of nutrition, physical activity and obesity among adolescents and young adults. The Division (http://www.epi.umn.edu) has 54 primary and 74 adjunct faculty who bring in over $30 million annually in sponsored research grants. We offer MPH, MS and Ph.D. degrees in six different majors. Requirements are: 1) Ph.D. in nutrition with a focus on obesity and formal training in epidemiology; 2) relevant publication record in peer-reviewed journals, 3) relevant research experience in the areas of nutrition, physical activity and youth and young adult obesity; 4) evidence of potential for obtaining independent external research funding; 5) evidence of strong quantitative skills and experience in working with epidemiologic data; 6) evidence of successful graduate level teaching in public health nutrition topics and advising experience, including teaching as sole instructor, and 7) at least two years' research and/or teaching experience in faculty appointment. Current certification as Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred. Primary criteria include relevant research experience, peer-reviewed publications, teaching experience, and potential for obtaining independent externally-funded research. Appointment provides outstanding opportunities for collaboration in nutrition, physical activity, and obesity in adolescent and young adult populations. It is expected that faculty will lead his/her own research effort and collaborate as co-investigator on new grant initiatives. Teaching responsibilities include courses on obesity, nutrition, epidemiology, or other areas contributing to the Division's teaching mission.
