Description
The incumbent will serve as the Director of the Public Health Emergency Epidemiology Program in the Bureau of Communicable Disease Control. The position provides clinical and epidemiological consultation in the surveillance, investigation and control of possible bioterrorist-related cases and outbreaks. The Director will be responsible for coordinating emergency epidemiology preparedness plans and drills. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with the Regional Epidemiology Program within the Bureau of Communicable Disease Control to provide clinical and public health expertise and assist in coordinating the response to other infectious disease outbreaks, public health threats, and emergencies in the NYSDOH regional offices across NYS. The incumbent will work closely with local health departments, partner organizations, other state health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and participate in statewide and national organizations and meetings.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and board eligible or board certified in a medical specialty. Must have a Master's degree in Public Health OR one year experience in a public health program. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience or knowledge in the areas of: communicable disease surveillance and/or conducting epidemiologic studies; emergency preparedness planning and response; immunizable diseases; emerging infections or nosocomial infections. Specialty training in infectious disease, and/or preventive medicine is preferred.
