Position Description: An analyst is needed to provide support to the surveillance and risk assessment efforts for a study to compile, monitor and review data from multiple sources with the goal of identifying and accurately reporting potential public health threats. The responsibilities include but are not limited to determining the significance of reported public health threats and coordinating and communicating risk assessment to partners at the local, state, and federal levels to facilitate a response plan.
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Respond to phone or e-mail queries from the client, state/local public health or federal agency partners in the use of project information sources, distributed project reports, or risk assessments. • Document requests for assistance and the response generated. Collaborate with client to develop techniques for merging information, risk assessment and project operational processes. • Attend and provide briefings on finished or current studies to the client or other Senior Officials as requested. • Provide guidance to the project Senior Leadership team in the area of public health. Serve as a consultant and support public health preparedness efforts with local, regional, national and international public health organizations on a wide variety of topics.
Qualifications: Doctor of Philosophy (or equivalent) in public health, statistics, social science or other health related field from an accredited college of university, and 6 or more years experience in epidemiology or public health, or a closely related field. Preferred applicants will have experience working with public health surveillance systems at the national, state, or local level. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to interact with senior project staff and clients.
