The West Virginia University (WVU) School of Pharmacy and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC) jointly seek an open-rank, tenure-track faculty researcher in Cancer Health Services, Health Interventions, and/or Health Outcomes Research.
POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The researcher will establish and conduct an independent research program in cancer health services, health interventions, and/or health outcomes research. This appointment is in the WVU School of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy (PSP) and is available immediately.
Responsibilities include: establishing/conducting an independent research program in health services or health outcomes research that can inform the healthcare of West Virginia and the nation; securing federal grants to support research; and teaching in the graduate and professional programs. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with rank and experience.
UNIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY: The WVU School of Pharmacy Department of PSP is nationally recognized for its interdisciplinary research focus and its Ph.D. program in health outcomes research. The department houses the Rational Drug Therapy Program (RDTP) supported by West Virginia state agencies and the AHRQ funded West Virginia Collaborative Health Outcomes Research of Therapies and Services (CoHORTS) Center. Established partnerships with various research centers and state agencies offer opportunities for collaborative research.
The MBRCC is West Virginia's premier cancer facility with a national reputation of excellence in cancer treatment, prevention, and research. The MBRCC is currently undergoing major expansion of faculty and facilities as we set our sights on NCI Cancer Center designation. The School of Pharmacy and MBRCC are situated within a large, state-assisted academic health sciences center that includes a 460-bed teaching hospital, a psychiatric hospital, and a rehabilitation hospital. WVU (a Doctoral Research-Intensive University) is the state's land-grant university with an enrollment of 26,000 students. WVU is located in Morgantown, a scenic area known for its high quality of life, cultural amenities, outdoor recreation, and is within easy driving distance of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, and Washington, DC.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent degree with a strong research focus on
health services, health interventions, or health outcomes. Appointment at an advanced rank requires a transferable NIH (ideally NCI) or AHRQ funded research program. Ideal applicants should have an emphasis pertaining to cancer-related screening, prevention, or treatment disparities; possess skills to conduct research in areas such as patient reported outcomes, epidemiology, economics, or health policy; and demonstrate potential for or have a successful track history in conducting federally funded research.
