Job description:
The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard seeks a BIOSTATISTICIAN, Broad Institute-Genetic Analysis Platform, to perform statistical genetic and epidemiologic analyses for the large-scale genotype-phenotype NHLBI CARe project. Will serve as primary data analyst guided by phenotype experts in the CARe project and statistical analysis from Broad; use existing tools and identify where new tools are needed to perform required analyses; interact closely with many external investigators; and develop and implement novel analytical tools and processes to serve the changing demands of the CARe project.
REQUIREMENTS: a Ph.D. or master's degree in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, or related fiel; experience analyzing large, complex datasets; solid knowledge of standard statistical and statistical software packages (e.g., SAS and R); and familiarity with genetic packages such as PLINK and Haploview. Knowledge of bioinformatics tools required. Must be able to use UNIX operating system in a NT/Windows environment. Ability to identify data issues, present problems, and implement solutions expected. Should be capable of communicating technical concepts clearly, concisely, and understandably to non-statistical colleagues. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously in a highly collaborative biotechnology and high-throughput research environment required.
