The Department of Public Health Sciences at UNC Charlotte invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin August 2009, contingent on the receipt of full funding. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology by August 2009. We especially welcome applications from candidates with expertise in social or environmental determinants of health; epidemiologists with other areas of expertise are also encouraged to apply. We prefer candidates with focused research agendas, current research funding or strong evidence of sponsored research potential, and college teaching experience. The Associate Professor position requires a significant record of publication and extramural funding. The successful candidate will join a research intensive department; teach courses in epidemiology; and contribute to existing BSPH, MSPH, MHA, and PhD in health services research degree programs as well as planned doctoral programs (http://publichealth.uncc.edu/). Collaborative opportunities abound in epidemiology, behavioral science, health services research, health policy, and clinical disciplines.
The Department is committed to excellence in research and teaching, to building a faculty and staff committed to preparing a diverse workforce, and to extending educational opportunities to students of diverse backgrounds. UNC Charlotte is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and welcomes applications from women, minorities, and individuals with disabilities. We encourage applications from those who can help us achieve our goal of creating a culturally rich environment, and of enhancing diversity within the department and the college.
