ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCE (tenure track)

A faculty position (Assistant Professor) in the Section of Behavioral and Social Sciences is open in the Department of Community Health and Program in Public Health at Brown University. The start date is September, 2009. This position is part of a multi-year growth plan for Public Health at Brown, which is significantly expanding our faculty, with up to 17 new tenure-track positions.
Minimum requirements include having an emerging national reputation in an area of health behavior/health promotion research relevant for Health Communications, evidence of ability to obtain independent extramural funding, and evidence of potential for sustained scholarly productivity. This position requires teaching in the Department's undergraduate and graduate programs, so classroom teaching experience is highly desirable. A doctoral degree in a Behavioral and/or Social Science (or equivalent) is required. The desired research emphasis for this position is Health Communications, with substantive content in areas such as addictions, obesity, and/or physical activity. Experience collaborating in interdisciplinary research is desirable.
