QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In addition to the basic qualifications above, you must have one (1)
year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the
particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully

the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized
experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in
the Federal government.

Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation (MCRF) is seeking a doctoral-level Epidemiologist for its Epidemiology Research Center. MCRF is the research division of Marshfield Clinic, a large multi-specialty group practice with over 750 physicians and 43 regional centers in central and northern Wisconsin. MCRF Epidemiologists are involved in both clinical and population-based research. We have a position available for a Senior Biostatistician, interested in developing applied statistical methods in clinical research in oncology. Specific topics for which development in statistical methods is requested include:

Phase I / II trials methodology
Phase III trials in rare cancers
Adaptive designs

In addition to research activity (50% of time), he/she will be involved in statistical consultation to the clinicians on study design, protocols development, data analysis, report writing, manuscript and grant proposals.
Requirements:

PhD in Statistics or Biostatistics and 2-3 years of experience or MS Degree with at least 5 years of experience
Thorough technical knowledge of statistical methodology and programming.

DESCRIPTION:
Faculty member sought who can manage the hospital´s Infection Control Program. The Associate Hospital Epidemiologist is responsible for working closely with the Hospital Epidemiologist in providing the necessary leadership to accomplish the following goals:

1) Promote the safety of patients, personnel, trainees and visitors;
2) Decrease the risk for healthcare associated infections
3) Minimize the risk of transmission of infections associated with the use of procedures, medical equipment and medical devices.

Requirements: MD Degree, Board Certification/eligibility in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, eligible for Virginia medical license. STARTING SALARY: Depends on qualifications and experience.

ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: Two years, renewable by mutual consent and availability of funding.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Population Council is seeking a highly experienced health or social scientist to lead its HIV and AIDS Program in the Republic of Kenya and elsewhere in East Africa. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of, fundraising for, and implementation of the Council’s HIV and AIDS Program within the country and the region. The successful candidate will oversee and engage in a program of social/behavioral, public health and/or operations research on important program interventions that enable people to mitigate the impact of HIV on their lives. These include, but are not limited to: improving the quality, utilization, and impact of prevention, care and treatment HIV services; expanding access to prevention technologies including male circumcision; and addressing system and structural constraints to behavior change and the utilization of HIV services, such as gender, stigma, and the integration of diverse clinical and community services.

The successful candidate will initially support the Council’s PEPFAR-funded HIV activities by providing leadership in the design, implementation, data gathering, analysis, report writing, synthesis, and dissemination of findings from currently funded PEPFAR projects. In addition to sustaining and increasing the Council’s PEPFAR-funded portfolio, the successful candidate will work closely with the Program, Regional, and Country Directors in engaging with new donors and partners to support the Council’s HIV and AIDS work in the East Africa region. The successful candidate will represent the Council’s HIV and AIDS program to governments, donors and partners. The successful candidate will also assist the Country Director in the management and development of the Nairobi Office and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Contribute to the Council’s HIV and AIDS program strategy and implementation through:

o intellectual leadership in the areas of social/behavioral, public health and/or operations research in relation to the HIV response in Kenya and the region;

o fundraising and donor stewardship;

o managing HIV program financing for projects in Kenya and the region;

o design, obtaining ethical and other approvals, and conduct of research;

o publication in Council and peer-reviewed publications;

o management of HIV and AIDS program activities within the Nairobi office and the region;

o mentoring and supervision of Council HIV and AIDS Program staff in the Nairobi office and capacity building of counterparts.

2. Collaborate with senior staff in the region and with the Reproductive Health and Poverty, Gender and Youth Programs to design, develop and implement interdisciplinary research. 3. Represent the HIV and AIDS program and Council to the research and public health community and in media and public policy forums within Kenya and the region.

4. Maintain excellence by ensuring the quality, ethics, and policy relevance of research, including the appropriateness of research design and analysis, and communication and dissemination of information of program activities and findings.

5. Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategy for synthesizing and disseminating the key results, programmatic lessons learned, methodologies developed, and other research outputs. 6. Assist Country Director in management and development of the Nairobi office.

NOTES: International Candidates Will Be Considered. Salary depends on qualifications and experience.




Requirements
1. Doctoral degree in public health, social science, public policy, or related field, or MD, with relevant training and expertise and at least 10 years of relevant experience in a progressively senior capacity in successful management and implementation of HIV/AIDS research projects in low-resource settings. A satisfactory combination of experience and educational background will be considered.
2. Demonstrated ability to stimulate fundraising and secure funds for program activities.

3. Strong working knowledge of HIV and AIDS and related issues in Kenya, proven through past positions and publications record.

4. Demonstrated ability to promote the use of research for the improvement of health systems in developing countries, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa, and the scale-up of successful interventions.

5. Capacity to understand and demonstrated experience in cooperating with research investigators and the program and policy communities from a variety of fields and cultures, preferably through residential experience in developing countries.

6. Excellent diplomatic, representational, problem solving, management, and interpersonal skills. 7. Demonstrated experience in capacity building. 8. Excellent written and oral English-language communications skills. 9. Willingness to travel within country and across the region on a regular basis is a requirement of this position.
