QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In addition to the basic qualifications above, you must have one (1)
year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the
particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully

the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized
experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in
the Federal government.

Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation (MCRF) is seeking a doctoral-level Epidemiologist for its Epidemiology Research Center. MCRF is the research division of Marshfield Clinic, a large multi-specialty group practice with over 750 physicians and 43 regional centers in central and northern Wisconsin. MCRF Epidemiologists are involved in both clinical and population-based research. Phase I / II trials methodology
Phase III trials in rare cancers
Adaptive designs

In addition to research activity (50% of time), he/she will be involved in statistical consultation to the clinicians on study design, protocols development, data analysis, report writing, manuscript and grant proposals.
Requirements:

PhD in Statistics or Biostatistics and 2-3 years of experience or MS Degree with at least 5 years of experience
Thorough technical knowledge of statistical methodology and programming.

DESCRIPTION:
Faculty member sought who can manage the hospital´s Infection Control Program. The Associate Hospital Epidemiologist is responsible for working closely with the Hospital Epidemiologist in providing the necessary leadership to accomplish the following goals:

1) Promote the safety of patients, personnel, trainees and visitors;
2) Decrease the risk for healthcare associated infections
3) Minimize the risk of transmission of infections associated with the use of procedures, medical equipment and medical devices.

Requirements: MD Degree, Board Certification/eligibility in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, eligible for Virginia medical license. JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Population Council is seeking a highly experienced health or social scientist to lead its HIV and AIDS Program in the Republic of Kenya and elsewhere in East Africa. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of, fundraising for, and implementation of the Council’s HIV and AIDS Program within the country and the region. The successful candidate will oversee and engage in a program of social/behavioral, public health and/or operations research on important program interventions that enable people to mitigate the impact of HIV on their lives. These include, but are not limited to: improving the quality, utilization, and impact of prevention, care and treatment HIV services; expanding access to prevention technologies including male circumcision; and addressing system and structural constraints to behavior change and the utilization of HIV services, such as gender, stigma, and the integration of diverse clinical and community services.

The successful candidate will initially support the Council’s PEPFAR-funded HIV activities by providing leadership in the design, implementation, data gathering, analysis, report writing, synthesis, and dissemination of findings from currently funded PEPFAR projects. In addition to sustaining and increasing the Council’s PEPFAR-funded portfolio, the successful candidate will work closely with the Program, Regional, and Country Directors in engaging with new donors and partners to support the Council’s HIV and AIDS work in the East Africa region. The successful candidate will represent the Council’s HIV and AIDS program to governments, donors and partners. The successful candidate will also assist the Country Director in the management and development of the Nairobi Office and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Contribute to the Council’s HIV and AIDS program strategy and implementation through:

o intellectual leadership in the areas of social/behavioral, public health and/or operations research in relation to the HIV response in Kenya and the region;

o fundraising and donor stewardship;

o managing HIV program financing for projects in Kenya and the region;

o design, obtaining ethical and other approvals, and conduct of research;

o publication in Council and peer-reviewed publications;

o management of HIV and AIDS program activities within the Nairobi office and the region;

o mentoring and supervision of Council HIV and AIDS Program staff in the Nairobi office and capacity building of counterparts.

2. Collaborate with senior staff in the region and with the Reproductive Health and Poverty, Gender and Youth Programs to design, develop and implement interdisciplinary research. 3. Represent the HIV and AIDS program and Council to the research and public health community and in media and public policy forums within Kenya and the region.

4. Maintain excellence by ensuring the quality, ethics, and policy relevance of research, including the appropriateness of research design and analysis, and communication and dissemination of information of program activities and findings.

5. Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategy for synthesizing and disseminating the key results, programmatic lessons learned, methodologies developed, and other research outputs. 6. Assist Country Director in management and development of the Nairobi office.

Requirements
1. Doctoral degree in public health, social science, public policy, or related field, or MD, with relevant training and expertise and at least 10 years of relevant experience in a progressively senior capacity in successful management and implementation of HIV/AIDS research projects in low-resource settings. A satisfactory combination of experience and educational background will be considered.
2. Demonstrated ability to stimulate fundraising and secure funds for program activities.

3. Strong working knowledge of HIV and AIDS and related issues in Kenya, proven through past positions and publications record.

4. Demonstrated ability to promote the use of research for the improvement of health systems in developing countries, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa, and the scale-up of successful interventions.

5. Capacity to understand and demonstrated experience in cooperating with research investigators and the program and policy communities from a variety of fields and cultures, preferably through residential experience in developing countries.

6. Excellent diplomatic, representational, problem solving, management, and interpersonal skills. 7. Demonstrated experience in capacity building. 8. Excellent written and oral English-language communications skills. 9. Willingness to travel within country and across the region on a regular basis is a requirement of this position.

The Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health has an immediate opening in CBAR for a Ph.D.-level Research Associate or Research Scientist statistician to work in the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Group (IMPAACT). Successful applicant will join over 60 statisticians and epidemiologists collaborating in multi- center clinical trials and related research in AIDS and HIV. Position will be working collaboratively with teams of researchers on design, monitoring, and analyses of Phase II and III clinical trials and on observational cohort studies; conduct project-related methodological research; initiate and conduct database studies; and supervise master's level staff. It is anticipated that successful candidate will take an active role in leadership at CBAR and ultimately in the IMPAACT Network itself.

Requirements
Doctoral degree in biostatistics or related field. Research Scientist appointment requires at least two years applied experience beyond doctorate. Experience with multi-center clinical trials a plus. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of the ability to conduct collaborative and methodological research and work independently in the design, conduct, monitoring and analysis of trial data. Applicants should demonstrate strong quantitative skills and have interest in assuming a leadership role.

We have an exciting new position for a Senior Research Scientist in the HIV and Infections Group at the Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) working on HIV prevention. The post holder will be based in London at the CTU, as part of a multidisciplinary team of statisticians, trial managers and clinicians. The postholder will have regular contact with clinical teams running multicentre studies and trials in Europe and Africa, and would be expected to travel for around 15-20% of their time.

We are looking for highly self-motivated applicants, preferably with clinical expertise and publications in HIV and/or other infections such as malaria and tuberculosis. You should have research experience in a relevant area (preferably with a PhD or other further degree), combined with an interest in epidemiology and clinical trials. The candidate would have an honorary academic position at Imperial College London (lecturer/senior lecturer - depending on experience), and an honorary clinical attachment to a London clinical HIV/Infectious Diseases department, if appropriate. You should ideally have worked and/or lived in a resource-limited setting. Experience of initiating and managing complex research projects, as well as leading teams would be highly valuable.

The post will be for 3 years in the first instance and may be full or part time (>60% or more). The post will be at MRC Band 2/3 and starting salary will be in line with Lecturer/Senior Lecturer scales, depending on qualifications, experience and continuing clinical involvement.

Salary is inclusive of London allowances. Benefits include 30 days annual leave per year, flexi-time scheme, a contributory pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

At the University at Buffalo is seeking an academic psychiatrist at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level with the interest and potential to develop a sustained, independent research program. This is a tenure track position with 50% fully protected time for the successful applicant to develop their research program. Resources for this recruitment include financial support for one to two additional faculty to work closely with the successful candidate and for part-time secretarial support. We are particularly interested in clinical scientists with established research programs in cognitive/behavioral neuroscience, clinical trials research, clinical psychopharmacology, psychoneuroimmunology, clinical/genetic epidemiology, or PTSD/mood disorders. Salary and benefits are excellent and commensurate with qualifications. Qualifications: Successful candidates should have strong research credentials, ideally with current or recent funding as a principal investigator. Investigators whose research programs are closely associated with their clinical work are of particular interest. The Department of Psychiatry and the School of Medicine have outstanding resources. The Department has an excellent reputation in the medical school and has a prominent teaching program for medical students. The residency programs in general psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry are thriving and there is a new geriatrics fellowship. ' Self-motivated and independent in performing research work required by funded research projects.

' Supervises the transfer of varied data from medical records to computerized files.

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:
Conducts field training programs, assists personnel in interviewing skills and establishing procedures and effectively
organizing personnel to participate in the epidemiology of cancer programs. Receives visitors to the department
in the absence of the department head. Trains personnel as required. Other duties as required.

The Department of Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) at the School of Public Health, University at Albany, State University of New York seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Environmental and Occupational Health Track, effective Fall 2008.

Candidates must have a doctorate in environmental and/or occupational health sciences, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, or a closely related discipline, and have either an ongoing externally-funded research program or the potential to establish one.

The candidate is expected to have interest and competency for teaching in at least three of the following: exposure assessment, risk assessment, dose response assessment, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and safety, community-based environmental and occupational health interventions, and hazardous waste management.

EHS faculty are engaged in a broad range of laboratory and field-based environmental health scientific research. The Department is closely associated with the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) and the Wadsworth Center, both of which are part of the New York State Department of Health (DOH). CEH uses scientific expertise and application of regulatory programs to protect New Yorkers from environmental hazards, and the Wadsworth Center is the research-intensive laboratory of the DOH.

The applicant’s doctoral degree must be from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. DESCRIPTION

The Health, Social and Economics Research Division of RTI International has an opening for a Research Epidemiologist 2. The position requires an understanding of one or more of the following substantive areas; the epidemiology, etiology, prevention or treatment of psychiatric and/or substance use disorders; or HIV risk behavior and prevention. The ideal candidate will contribute to ongoing projects but over time develop an independent program of research.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contributing to writing grant applications and peer-reviewed journal articles (both as co-author and first author)

• Performing statistical analyses for epidemiological studies of psychiatric and substance use disorders and intervention studies (e.g., case – control HIV/STD intervention, military health studies)


QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. or Dr.P.H. in epidemiology, public health, psychology, sociology, or a related field

• Proven experience in behavioral health epidemiology or prevention/intervention studies

• Strong record in statistical analysis, including longitudinal analysis, latent variable modeling, categorical data analysis, finite mixture modeling and analysis of non-independent data

• Peer-reviewed publication record in behavioral health is required

Job Description:

The future Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) will open July 2008 on the new, state-of-the-art Anschutz Medical Campus at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD). The University of Florida and the Malcom Randall VAMC, NF/SGVHS in Gainesville, Florida seek applicants for a tenure or non tenure track, full time position, at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level for faculty member in the Infectious Diseases Section. The NF/SG VAMC is intimately affiliated with the University of Florida and is located directly opposite the University of Florida's Shands Teaching Hospital. The University Of Florida Division Of Infectious Diseases provides consultation services at both the University Hospital and the VAMC which serve as major referral centers for Northern Florida and Southern Georgia. The VAMC Infectious Disease Section is a major teaching site for subspecialty fellows and students. The 100,000 + patient population served makes this one of the busiest VA hospitals in the country, with plans for a new inpatient tower.
Interest and expertise in epidemiology, emerging pathogens, bacterial pathogenesis and nosocomial infections would be desirable. The applicant would be expected to add to and develop a translational research program that would attract funding through VA merit Review, HSR&D, DOD and/or NIH. There would be ample opportunities for multidisciplinary interactions with the University's Emerging Pathogens Institute, Department of Epidemiology, and College of Health Professionals and Public Health. $125,000 to negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Job Description:

The University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the Division of Health Promotion Sciences at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health anticipated beginning in Fall 2008.

The successful candidate will contribute directly to the teaching, research and service missions of the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.

The teaching emphasis will be in one or more of the areas: health promotion, or elderly populations, infectious disease/HIV/AIDS and Leadership, and Service Learning.

The candidate will have the opportunity to create new courses including courses for the College's Undergraduate, MPH, and the planned Dr.PH. program. The Division is seeking an individual who is able to work with diverse students and colleagues.

The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health is a growing and dynamic college accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health and a member of the Association of Schools of Public Health. The mission of the COPH is to promote the health of individuals and communities with a special emphasis on diverse populations and the Southwest. The College has active teaching research and service programs and is the home of several important programs including the Southwest Center for Community Health Promotion, one of 33 U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Prevention Research Centers.

Under general direction of a faculty biostatistician, the incumbent will provide biostatistical consultation and collaboration on the design, conduct, and analysis, and interpretation of research projects dealing with muscular dystrophy and cancer. These projects involve basic science, clinical medicine, and population science. The incumbent will prepare reports and analyses of research projects both for scientific papers and grant proposals. The College of Public Health (CoPH) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is accepting applications and nominations for appointment to the Carruth J. Wagner, M.D. Endowed Chair in Public Health. The position may focus in one or more of the following areas: health services research/administration/policy; biostatistics; epidemiology; environmental, agricultural and occupational health; health pro- motion and disease prevention. The successful candidate will have a well-established scholarly record, provide leadership for major research activity, and contribute to College educational programs including the Master of Public Health program and Ph.D. programs in health services research/administration, health promotion and dis- ease prevention research, and/or environmental health, occupational health and toxicology. This is a tenure eligible position.

Research collaboration, as appropriate to the disciplinary interests of the person appointed to the endowed chair, is possible with the following: faculty in the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dentistry at UNMC; the Veterans Health Administration Medical Center; health informatics faculty in the Peter W. Kiewit Institute at UNMC and the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO); faculty at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in public administration, business, health education, biomechanics and others; faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in natural resources, food science and technology, and others. Collaborative opportunities exist resulting from relationships between the CoPH and local health care systems, insurers, corporations, and the Nebraska Health and Human Services System. City Research Scientist (2 positions: #282 and #283)

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a research scientist to join the Bureau of Environmental Surveillance and Policy (BESP). BESP evaluates hazards, exposures and health outcomes related to aspects of the urban environment, and conducts surveillance and data support on behalf of the Division's programs, including the New York City Poison Control Center (PCC). PCC responds to more than 70,000 informational calls and reports of chemical, pharmaceutical, biological and other exposures each year. These data offer the potential to yield important information to evaluate in near real time whether unusual events, clustered in time or geography are occurring in New York City. NYC will build a syndromic surveillance system that downloads encounter data, extracts information about a set of cases meeting pre-determined symptom, agent or syndrome definitions, and delivers these data for analytic purposes to enable syndromic as well as routine surveillance. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating sets of syndrome definitions based on toxicological, epidemiological and medical criteria, writing SAS, SQL and other code to manipulate the PCC encounter data, and work with a team of information-technology staff to implement a data transfer protocol. The candidate will also be responsible for developing a series of queries, standard electronic reports and written interpretative reports of PCC encounters for the purpose of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. These more routing reports will be used to report PCC activity to the public, and to evaluate the need for educational, outreach and policy initiatives to prevent exposures.
Specific responsibilities will include:
' Work in a team to make Poison Control Center data available for syndromic and routine surveillance efforts.
' Evaluate and design case definitions drawing on symptom, outcome, exposure agent and other data to define syndromes for subsequent analysis.
' Develop standard and customizable reports of PCC activity.
' Analyze surveillance findings to promote interventions to prevent exposures to chemical, biological, food, pharmaceutical and other agents.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

1. A Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A Master' s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time experience in the appropriate field of specialization, including one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to (1) or (2) above. However, all candidates must have a Master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity as described in (2) above.

Requirements
Doctoral degree in Medicine
Master's degree in Public Health or equivalent preferred.

Physician possessing a current valid license to practice medicine in New York State or be eligible for licensure by and registration with the New York State Education Department.

Board Certified in any medical specialty. Preference given to additional certification or credentials in Public Health/ Community Medicine beyond the specialty board.

Eligible for appointment to hospital medical staffs.

Demonstrated ability to provide high quality clinical care. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public health medicine.

Eligible for faculty appointment to the College of Medicine of SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Interest in teaching medical students.

Long Description:
The Department of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, and Epidemiology, Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, is seeking a tenure track faculty member at the associate or full professor level with expertise and experience in the field of genetic epidemiology.

The candidate should have a doctoral degree in epidemiology with advanced training and/or a research focus in genetics. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in conducting genetic epidemiology research, as well as evidence of an ability to obtain extramural funding.

The candidate is expected to have experience in mentoring graduate students and experience in collaborative research. The successful candidate is expected to gradually develop funded research.
